
Gut-Healthy Granola That Fuels Digestion & Glowing Skin
This delicious granola with seeds and honey is bursting with nutrition to boost the beneficial bacteria in your gut, making it a great way to kick-start the day! This recipe includes lots of seeds which contain healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber – which is good for the gut microbiome.
Ingredients
Spice up your breakfast with seeds and honey
- 200 grams (2 cups) oats
- 70 grams (½ cup) pumpkin seeds
- 70 grams (½ cup) sunflower seeds
- 1 tablespoon linseed
- 40 grams (1/4 cup) sesame seeds
- 1-2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, preferably Ceylon cinnamon
- Sprinkle of salt, to taste
- PS – you can replace any of the seeds with for instance walnuts, hazel nuts or other nuts of choice.

Method
Granola with seeds and honey
- Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
- Cover a baking plate with baking paper
- Combine oats, pumpkin and sunflower seeds plus linseeds and spread on the plate. Wait to add sesame seeds.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and salt and stir to combine well
- In a small pot, place honey and coconut oil and microwave until liquid – stir (you can use regular pot on the stove too)
- Pour over the oats and seeds mix and combine well
- Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes – remove from oven and stir
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top, return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes until sesame seeds are golden
- Let cool on the tray
- Store in an airtight container
Serving the granola with yogurt or kefir provides probiotics as well. Probiotic foods contain living microorganisms like the health-promoting microbes that live in your gut. By eating probiotic foods we can help increase our body’s
population of good bacteria.
