Hummus – naturally gut healthy!
Hummus is a popular dish of Arab origin. It’s perfect as a dip or side dish if you’re doing a barbecue. In fact, it’s perfect with almost any meal, in our humble opinion!
It contains lots of gut friendly ingredients to boost your health.
Chickpeas, the main ingredient, are a great source of plant based proteins and fiber.
High-fiber foods may protect from conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure (Forbes, The Lancet).
Check out our recipe below.
- 2 cans of chick peas, 400 grams each
- 1-2 tablespoons tahini (depends on your personal taste)
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1/ teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 0.5 dl olive oil, good quality
- 1 dl almond milk (or regular milk)
- Pinch of dried chilli
- Pinch of ground paprika
- Chopped flat leaf parsley
- Simply mix all the ingredients in a blender, until smooth
- Garnish with dried chilli and / or paprika plus chopped parsley
- Sprinkle with a little olive oil
